(Jakarta, 30/6/2012) Pertemuan ke-21 ASEAN Land Transport Working Group akan berlangsung pada 3-5 Juli 2012 di Vientiane Capital City, Laos PDR. Pertemuan ini merupakan pertemuan lanjutan dari  The 20th ASEAN Land Transport Working Group yang berlangsung di Siem Reap, Kamboja pada 2-4 Agustus 2011 lalu. Pertemuan ke-21 ASEAN Land Transport Working Group tersebut akan didahului oleh Pertemuan The 3rd ASEAN Multisectoral Road Safety Special Working Group (MRSSWG) (3/7).

Pada Pertemuan The 3rd ASEAN Multisectoral Road Safety Special Working Group (MRSSWG) akan dilakukan pembahasan mengenai Implementasi dari Brunei Action Plan/ASEAN Strategic Transport Plan 2011-2015, yang meliputi : Formulate the ASEAN Regional Road Safety Strategy Plan 2012-2020, dan Formulate the National Road Safety Action Plan 2012-2020 oleh seluruh negara anggota ASEAN. Direncanakan pada pertemuan tersebut akan ada briefing dari perwakilan Asian Development Bank (ADB) mengenai the ADB Technical Assistance Project for Improving Road Safety in ASEAN.

Pertemuan The 21st ASEAN Land Transport Working Group ini sendiri akan membahas beberapa agenda seperti hasil dan tindak lanjut dari forum terkait LTWG (ASEAN STOM ke-33, ASEAN Transport Minister ke-17, dan pertemuan terkait lainnya); serta perkembangan implementasi dari Transportasi Darat dari beberapa tolak ukur (measures) dalam Master Plan on ASEAN Conncetivity (MPAC) dan Brunei Action Plan (BAP).

Beberapa tolak ukur (measures) dalam Master Plan on ASEAN Conncetivity (MPAC) dan Brunei Action Plan (BAP) antara lain construct the missing link sections and spur lines of Singapore Kunming Rail Link (SKRL); supplementary upgradation work in ASEAN Member States to support SKRL; formulate a strategy for a seamless operation of SKRL; mobilise financial resources and technical assistance from external partners, either on a bilateral basis or with the coordination of ADB, to support the completion of SKRL in accordance with the agreed deadline; study the possibility of extending the SKRL to Surabaya, Indonesia; conduct a feasibility study and preliminary design for the railway spur line between Kanchanaburi and Dawei; complete the ASEAN Highway Network (AHN) by constructing the missing links and upgrading to Class III and above; identify and develop a network of ASEAN dry ports in accordance with existing ASEAN initiatives such as the AHN and the SKRL; install common road signs and the route numbering system in all designated routes with a specific priority on TTR routes; formulate the "ITS Master Plan" by 2013 and its implementation; implement the "ITS Capacity Building Programmes" in order to develop ITS; implement programmes/seminars to enhance the "Technical, Institutional & Human Capacity" for safer, secured & efficient transport system;change & adoption of experiences, projects & knowledge related to environmental-friendly transport system, vehicles and fuels; kerjasama transportasi dengan negara-negara mitra wicara (India, Japan, and Russia); dan regular exchange information.

Pertemuan The 21st ASEAN Land Transport Working Group  dan The 3rd ASEAN Multisectoral Road Safety Special Working Group (MRSSWG) ini dilaksanakan berdasarkan undangan dari Dr. Santisouk Simmalavong, Permanent Secretary of Cabinet Office of Lao PDR Nomor : 07960/MPWT.CO tanggal 18 Mei 2012. Kedua Pertemuan tersebut akan diselenggarakan di Lane Xang Hotel, Vientiane Capital City, Lao PDR. Delegasi Kementerian Perhubungan pada pertemuan mendatang akan diwakili oleh wakil dari Direktorat Lalu Lintas Angkutan Jalan (LLAJ) dan Direktorat Keselamatan Transportasi Darat Direktorat Jenderal Perhubungan Darat.
